Native ARM64 build for Surface Pro X, Snapdragon-powered laptops and other Windows on ARM devices. Runs without x64 emulation overhead — faster start, less battery drain.
If your Windows 11 installation is x64 (the common case), you do not need this page — use the Standard x64 build instead. The ARM64 build is specifically for Windows on ARM devices.
Windows on ARM emulates x64 binaries through the Prism translation layer. Native ARM64 skips the translation step and starts in about a third of the time.
Emulation is CPU-intensive. On a laptop running on battery, a native ARM64 build that writes a 5 GB ISO consumes noticeably less power than the emulated x64 version.
Direct access to ARM64 USB drivers without going through an emulation shim. Tangible difference when writing to high-speed USB 3.2 sticks.
ARM64 build is 4.9 MB vs 1.9 MB for x64. The difference is a statically-linked runtime — the x64 build relies on system DLLs that ship with every Windows.
Open Settings → System → About. Under Device specifications, look at the System type line:
If the phrase "ARM" or "Snapdragon" is not in the spec, you do not need this build.
